Diabetes is a serious and a very common disease, which results in excessive amounts of sugar in the blood. Herbal remedies can be used to treat the problem naturally. Learn what herbs you can use to help treat the problem effectively without resorting to conventional drugs.

One of the best treatments for diabetes is the bitter gourd. For diabetics, it is highly recommended that it be taken frequently as part of their diet. In the morning, before having any breakfast, the bitter gourd juice should be taken. You can use bitter gourd in its powdered form if the bitter taste of the juice is too strong for you. You can use the powder in your food to help disguise its bitterness. As a boost to the bitter gourd, you can include the use of the Indian gooseberry. It is has very high levels of vitamin C, which is great in controlling diabetes. The mixture of the two will create a strong remedy to help control diabetes and also feed the pancreas to allow the secretion of insulin.

Mango leaves used dried or in its powder form can be consumed by mixing it with water. The dried leaves must be left in the water for it took soak and release its goodness into the water. The water is then consumed in the morning on an empty stomach. It is effective in treating diabetes. Other than the mango leaves, you can use the butea leaves to help reduce and control the level of sugar in the blood. Simply boil the leaves and drink the cooled water.

The aromatic curry leaves offers an interesting herbal remedy choice and has an additional benefit of helping weight loss. The leaves are especially beneficial for those that are suffering from hereditary diabetes. Just take ten fresh leaves and chew every day or you could even add it to your salad for that extra kick.

The fenugreek seeds offer the most variety in its use. You can take one or two small spoons of the seeds before going to bed. If that is too much to swallow, you can soak them in water and the next day drink the water before having your breakfast. You could also mix the fenugreek seed powder with milk if that is more to your liking. Fenugreek seeds are also fabuluos in food.

Cinnamon may not seem like much, but it is a very capable herb. Honey and cinnamon taken before going to bed will help you treat diabetes by controlling sugar levels in the blood. However, what makes cinnamon shine is that is also able to improve your appetite and placate cranky stomachs. It gives your vegetables and food another dimension it is added to them.

The herbs mentioned earlier are effective in treating diabetes, but there are still other herbs that are just as effective in treating diabetes. It would take more than a single article to list all of the herbs and the other benefits you can achieve from using these natural treatments.

The list of herbs mentioned is not an exhaustive one. There are still many more herbs that can be used to treat diabetes naturally. Maybe they can be discussed in another article. Regardless of the lack of space, the herbs mentioned would be more than enough for you to start going on the path of natural treatments for diabetes.

According to the Webster’s 21st Century Dictionary, the word “cure” means;

*Method of remedial treatment, esp. for disease.

*Recovery from disease.

*Restore to health; heal.

When type 2 diabetes is discussed, the word “cure” is met with a wide array of responses. Many people with this disease and their prescribing doctors believe there is no cure. For many however, saying type 2 diabetes can’t be reversed is like saying there is no cure for obesity.

Once you understand how type 2 diabetes develops in most people, it would be fair to say that type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease brought on by obesity, lack of exercise, drug use and other conscious choices. There are cases of type 2 diabetes brought on by other factors such as prescription drugs, stress and even agent orange exposure. However, obesity seems to play the largest part in the surge of the type 2 diabetes epidemic.

For the majority, the problem lies here. Beta cells inside the pancreas secrete insulin when food is eaten. Insulin acts as a key to open muscle and liver cells to allow sugars inside to be used for fuel. When a diabetic person gains additional weight due to excessive food intake, beta cells try to keep up with insulin production until they are so stressed that they eventually break down and produce less and less insulin…leaving high amounts of sugar in the blood.

The body does not replace damaged or destroyed beta cells on it’s own.

Then there is insulin resistance simply meaning muscle and liver cells don’t respond to the insulin already made by the body. Too much insulin in the bloodstream with no place to go is stored as fat. This is why so many type 2 diabetics have a unique apple-shaped body, carrying most of their excess weight around their middle.

An herbal remedy called Eleotin was introduced to the world in 1999 from Canada. Working on a metabolic level Eleotin restores beta cell function, insulin sensitivity and the health of the pancreas…the three most common causes of type 2 diabetes. Google the word Eleotin to find great informational resources on this product.

If a product such as Eleotin can rejuvenate tired and damaged beta cells and increase insulin sensitivity, the body can begin to process sugars on it’s own again. This restorative process can be considered a cure. However, if a person lives for many years untreated, this process could only halt or slow future physical damage to the body, not the complications already executed by the disease such as blindness, kidney failure or amputations. This is the same as taking a weight loss pill to “cure” obesity and thinking it will also cure the stretch marks that were the result of being overweight.

It is truly up to each individual as to what a cure means to them. No product natural or man-made will ever restore a diabetic to a non-diabetic stage forever and allow them to eat whatever they choose with no limitations. Knowing this, is there really a cure for type 2 diabetes? Define what a cure means to you. For the many thousands of Eleotin users all over the world, this means a cure.

Well, well, well. I do believe we finally have a winner: free therapy for the growing number of those with diabetes. It turns out there are few excuses for diabetics — or any of us, for that matter — not to exercise. According to recent reports, nearly any form of exercise benefits the long-term control of blood sugar levels, be it aerobic, weight/resistance training, or both. Both forms in conjunction worked better than either one alone. This is great news for Texas, with more than 1.8 million estimated diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetics.

There were doubts about the safety and efficacy of weight training for those with diabetes until Dr. Ronald Sigal of the University of Calgary and his colleagues from the University of Ottawa decided to question that assumption. Together, they studied 251 individuals with type-2 diabetes ages thirty-nine to seventy, none of whom exercised regularly. Subjects were broken down into four groups: the first group participated in aerobic training three times a week; the second group did resistance training three times a week; the third upped their heart rates by doing both aerobic and resistance training, for a total of one and a half hours, three times a week; and the fourth group participated in no extra exercise whatsoever.

Participants used treadmills, stationary bikes, and/or weight machines at health clubs, exercised consistently, and were given a diet designed to prevent undo weight loss. Their blood sugar and cholesterol levels were monitored, as were other vital statistics. By the study’s end, which was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, participants’ blood sugar levels had dropped, and — more importantly — so had their A1c levels, hemoglobin that indicates average blood sugar over the past six months.

For those who participated in one form of exercise, their A1c dropped by half a point on average. For those who did both aerobic and resistance training, the average A1c drop was a full point.

A diabetic’s A1c level is of vital importance because it helps measure his or her long-term control of blood sugar. A normal A1c level is between four and six; patients in Sigal’s study began at a concerning 6.6 to 9.9. A one-point drop in this hemoglobin is associated with a fifteen to twenty percent decrease in major cardiovascular events, like heart attacks and strokes, and a thirty-seven percent decrease in complications like kidney, eye, and limb damage.

According to Sigal, there were some who brought their A1c into the normal range — a feat for nearly anyone with this condition. Some participants were even able to reduce their medications, and many lost weight and body fat.

Such studies are pertinent to Texas, which has a diabetic population higher than the national average, and one-quarter of its population going without health insurance. According to 2006 statistics from the Texas Diabetes Council, 1.3 million men and women eighteen and older in the state have the disease, as compared with 15.3 million in the entire country. Another estimated 400,000 in Texas are left undiagnosed.

More Texan men than women have it, and, while non-Hispanic blacks and Hispanics are only a little more likely to be afflicted with the condition than whites, their death rates due to the disease are more than double than that of their white counterparts. In fact, diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in Texas, and it’s believed the condition is actually underreported on death certificates as both a cause and a condition.

What is, perhaps, even more concerning is that recent studies in Dallas, Houston, and Austin reveal that certain risk factors for the disease, such as obesity, are increasing among children. One in every 400 to 600 children in Texas have type-1 diabetes, a much more serious, autoimmune disorder than its more prevalent counterpart, type-2.

Type-1 diabetes is a condition in which the body essentially attacks its own immune system, destroying insulin-producing cells and requiring patients to administer multiple insulin shots a day, or a pump.

Type-2, on the other hand, is often caused by a combination of poor diet, lack of exercise, and genetic characteristics. Data needed to monitor diabetes trends by type in youth is not yet available, but if incidences of those with risk factors, like obesity, keep increasing, cases of type-2 (if not also type-1) are also expected to rise.

Many in Texas also lack health insurance, a factor recent reports by the Commonwealth Fund reveal to contribute to less access to quality care. Twenty-five percent of the Texas population is currently without health coverage — the worst rate in the nation — and, unless something is done, that number is not expected to improve. High premium costs of most health insurance companies and the debate over the State Children’s Health Insurance Program in Congress add to the strain. Without proper diagnosis and care, diabetes can easily lead to other, sometimes fatal conditions. Any activity a diabetic can do on one’s own that decreases the chances of complications is worth it.

“Imagine an inexpensive pill that could decrease the hemoglobin A1c value by one percentage point, reduce cardio death by twenty-five percent, and substantially improve the functional capacity [strength, endurance and bone density]” wrote Dr. William Kraus of Duke Medical School and Dr. Benjamin Levine of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. They continued by saying all able-bodied diabetics should be prescribed exercise regimens.

Imagine that: something we can all actually do for ourselves — no doctor’s visits, no prescriptions, no therapy appointments, time out of the work day, or exorbitant amounts of cash out of our pockets. Just a matter of getting up off of our couches. Well, well, well.

The term injection drives shivers up and down a person’s body as a mental picture of elongated razor-sharp needles dance within the minds- eye. Nevertheless, it can turn out to not be as terrifying and a great deal more comfortable the more practiced you turn out to be with how to properly inject insulin.

The most universal way to inject insulin is with a syringe and needle (although there is an insulin pen out on the market now). You draw insulin out of a bottle and into a syringe; then inject the medication beneath your skin where it’s absorbed into your bloodstream.

Insulin may be introduced into quite a lot of areas of your body where there is a build-up of fatty tissue available and where large blood vessels, nerves, muscles and bones are not too close to the exterior.

Insulin is best introduced into the tummy owing to hurried and dependable absorption. Steer clear of the two inch band around the navel, which will not absorb as well. Alternate each shot as depicted in the diagram. Your doctor may propose various areas for shots, like the back of your upper arms, thighs or buttocks.

Several of the sterile practices that health care professionals used to recommend for insulin injections have been effectively proven as needless. Diabetics have been observed for a long time injecting their insulin through their clothes. A study was developed to establish the safety and professed benefits of giving insulin injections in this manner. The participants injected through a single layer of fabric, which varied from nylon to denim. None of the subjects experienced erythema, induration, or abscess at injection locations. Neither the glycated hemoglobin levels nor the leukocyte counts varied between the conventional and experimental programs. In the injection-through-clothing phase of the study, only trivial problems, such as blood stains on clothing and bruising, possibly due to the slight extra force needed to get the needle through the layer of cloth, were documented. The test subjects stated that injection through their clothing offered benefits such as ease and saving time. It was concluded that it is safe to inject insulin through ones clothing.

The term given to injecting insulin through inserting syringe into the skin is known as ‘insulin injection technique’. This is done in order to inject a proper dose of insulin into the patients’ body. For the purpose of making insulin injection treatment a success for yourself, your physician or a member of their team can assist you in learning this technique.

Injecting at the accurate deepness is a very important part of a good injection technique. The majority of doctors will advise that insulin be introduced in the subcutaneous fat, (the deposit of fat just underneath the skin).

Instead, injecting insulin too deep may also be harmful as it can then enter the muscles where it gets absorbed more quickly. However, insulin in muscles may not remain in the body for a long time as injecting insulin in the muscle will also hurt. The insulin just enters the skin when it is not injected too deep. All this affects the time period for which insulin is present in the body.

To get the proper depth most people will pinch up a fold of skin and insert the needle at a 90 angle to the skin fold. If you are injecting into an area that does not contain a lot of fat tissue, you may need to adjust the angle to 45 for comfort.

Follow your doctor’s recommendation for taking insulin. Injecting insulin yourself does not have to be tough. Get in touch with your physician, their aide or nurse, if you are unsure concerning your insulin treatment program. Becoming comfortable with giving yourself shots and staying away from commonplace troubles, insulin injections will become part of your routine that aids you in keeping on top of things concerning your diabetes.

There are two main reasons for type 2 diabetes.

Reason #1: The body does not produce enough insulin.

Reason #2: The body’s cells are resistant to insulin.

Insulin has important jobs inside the body. One of them is to help carry sugar (the broken-down foods you eat) into muscle and liver cells to be used for energy. Another is to push fat into fat cells to be stored for later use.

The pancreas is the organ where insulin is produced. Beta Cells reside in the pancreas and are responsible for creating the insulin. If your doctor says you do not produce enough insulin, this is likely due to Beta Cell damage or destruction.

Beta Cells are damaged and destroyed in many ways including; excess weight, diets rich in fats, sugars and starches, stress, steroid use, prescription medications and lack of exercise. If they are destroyed, the body does not replace them. Beta Cells simply get more exhausted and produce less and less insulin, usually to the point where insulin injections are needed to stay alive.

Insulin resistance is when the body’s cells don’t accept the insulin that is made by the body. This means that when a person eats, insulin is injected into the bloodstream by the pancreas to carry the sugar and fats away into the proper cells. The cells resist the insulin and the sugar and fats remain in the bloodstream, resulting in high blood sugar and high blood fats. Hence, this is why most type 2 diabetics are overweight or obese.

Type 2 diabetes, like heart disease and stroke, is a silent killer. It doesn’t come on overnight, it isn’t painful (at first). In fact, most people who are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are done so while being treated for something else. Millions of people have this disease right now and are not even aware they have it. For many thousands this year, it will be too late to reverse the damage already done by this quiet but deadly disease.

At first, some of the signs include; constant thirst, weight loss or weight gain, tingling in the hands and feet, increased hunger, blurry vision, ect.

Untreated, type 2 diabetes moves on to more severe complications such as increased urination, retinal damage, wounds that don’t heal, gangrene, amputations, blindness, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, dialysis and death…to name a few.

It is vital that everyone with type 2 diabetes learn all they can about this disease and what they can do to reverse the causes instead of medicating the symptoms. Type 2 diabetes can be reversed…the damage already done by this disease cannot.

So what is a healthy blood sugar level? This number varies greatly from doctor to doctor. In the past, a person was not considered to be diabetic unless their fasting blood sugar was over 150. Today those numbers have changed from 80-130, depending on the doctor. Why? We can only explain this constant changing as a way for the healthcare industry to be able to diagnose more people with type 2 diabetes and prescribe money-making drugs to control the symptoms.

Recent studies done with more than 100 diabetic heart disease patients proved that 100% of them had diets that included fast food at least 2-3 times a week. Interesting fact. We are a society of fast everything… fast cars, fast lifestyles, credit cards that allow us instant gratification, microwaves for faster cooking, fast food for faster suppers…

Changing our way of life can be difficult, but it can be done. It is our way of life that is killing hundreds of thousands every year. Our environment, our stressors and our diets all play out in the big game of life. Strive to make small and meaninful changes every week. Walk for 15 minutes a day, add more raw vegetables to your diet, drink more pure water and less soda, ect.

By making small changes every week, you’ll become accustomed to them slowly and won’t feel like you are doing an abrupt 360. Learn all you can. Read books, get online and talk to others with type 2 diabetes. Find what works best for you and if you find something that works…by all means share it with others. You never know whose life you’ll save.

Obesity and Diabetes are two of the most frequently seen diseases among American citizens. Recent studies revealing that about 61% of our American population is overweight or obese, and the majority of this same group has diabetes. Further confirming a connection is the fact that obese people very often have elevated glucose levels.

In most cases, people who are obese develop glucose intolerance in the long run making them prone to diabetes. If you are one of those people who are overweight, you must be on the alert of the signs and symptoms of diabetes and make sure that you do everything to keep your weight down to its ideal level. Always remember that you can easily prevent obesity and diabetes if you put your heart and mind to it.

Diet Therapy

The smart approach to preventing both obesity and diabetes is to examine exactly what you eat each day. If you’ve been eating any and everything without considering it, it’s time for that to stop. You’ll want to monitor your caloric intake and keep it to a reasonable and low level. Plan to eat a high concentration the soluble fibers like whole grains, fruits, and veggies.

Experts tell us that fiber helps us to speed up our metabolism and to burn off fat faster. Fiber has additional benefits like water absorption – since fiber holds onto water, you’ll find that you feel full and satisfied for longer when you eat a lot of fiber. Snacking is the downfall of many people, and you can easily avoid unnecessary snacking with a high fiber diet – you won’t even feel hungry between meals and this really helps curb impulse snacking.

The benefits of exercise

You can help to avoid both obesity and diabetes if you exercise along with a healthy diet. It’s best to start slowly, especially if you’re not used to working out or do very little physical activity. You don’t want to injure yourself by jumping into a high impact exercise routine right away!

Start your exercise routine with sessions of about 30 minutes, or maximum 45 minutes. Begin by exercising at least three times a week, more if you feel ready. Allow yourself some time to adjust to the new activity levels, because your aim is to get healthy- not to hurt yourself by moving too fast. Your body will become more fit quickly, and soon you’ll be able to increase your workout levels and take on new exercise. It’s completely possible to get healthy, exercise, and avoid both obesity and diabetes with some dedication on your part.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that now ranks as the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. Luckily, diabetes natural treatments are available and they really do work. Diabetes is an illness in which the body cannot regulate sugar or glucose levels in the blood. When you are sick with diabetes your body fails to produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin properly for cell energy.

Recent surveys disclosed that about 17 million Americans are sick with diabetes. And the more shocking news is another 5.9 million people in the US do not even know they have diabetes.

There are three types of diabetes. These are Type 1 or the insulin-dependent, Type 2 or the non insulin-dependent and Gestational Diabetes which is a type of diabetes that only pregnant women get. Another term for Type 1 diabetes is juvenile diabetes. The cause of this particular type of diabetes is the pancreas’ lack of production of insulin.

Type 2 diabetes or adult-onset diabetes manifests itself when the body is partially or totally unable to use the insulin in the body.

Gestational Diabetes is a type of diabetes that only pregnant women get. It develops in about 3 to 5 percent of pregnant women but it usually disappears once the pregnancy is over.

The best way to combat diabetes is through natural treatment like naturopathy. Naturopathy makes use of water, light, air, heat, the right diet, and ample physical exercise as well as certain physiological measures. These methods do not require medication and surgical procedures which are not just painful but very expensive as well. Such procedures are not necessary with natural treatment because nature gives us the ability to fight diseases. Nature is a natural healer.

The first step in the natural treatment for diabetes is to choose the right diet plan. Whole fruits and vegetables instead of juices are particularly suitable for a diabetic. It ensures a larger intake of dietary fibers. 3 to 5 servings of dark green and deep yellow vegetables are sufficient.

You can also include low fat dairy products, a maximum of 3 ounces of cooked fish, poultry or lean meat, one egg,one quarter cup cottage cheese and one tablespoon of peanut butter in your diet. Refrain from eating sweets and fats and taking alcohol.

This diet, together with exercise, helps control weight and cholesterol which is necessary to treat diabetes.

You can use herbs known to cure Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes like Mango leaves, Asian Ginseng, Cinnamon, and Indian Gooseberry among others.

You can use some of these herbs together with natural processes like hydrotherapy, mud therapy, chromotherapy, and regular massages.

Diabetes natural treatment is a safe and a risk-free remedy for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels, at all times.

Being diagnosed with Diabetes is a life changing event. As yet there is no cure for the disease and this means you will have diabetes for the rest of your life. You have to adapt and live with the disease.

Treatment involves monitoring your blood sugar level every day. It may also mean injecting insulin or taking some form of medication to make your body more responsive to insulin. It should involve getting more exercise. And it must include watching what you eat and drink.

Apart from taking control of your body’s insulin production, watching what you eat and drink is probably the hardest thing to get used to. Most people have been used to eating what they want and having to rein this in feels like a serious degrading of quality of life. however, once you have got used to a few basic rules, planning a diabetic meal plan is quite easy.

One thing that many adults with the disease wonder about is whether alcohol and diabetes is compatible. How does alcohol affect the body and can a diabetic consume alcohol like someone that doesn’t have the disease. This article will cover these issues.

In reality, there is no problem having the odd alcoholic drink from time to time if you are diabetic. However consuming alcohol is akin to taking in empty calories. In other words, alcohol has no nutritional benefit even though it puts lots of calories into the body. This can make it hard to control the blood sugar level in the body. It may also lead to weight gain which can worsen or increase any diabetic complications.

After drinking alcohol, the liver will control the processing of it. One ounce of alcohol will take approximately two hours to completely metabolize. This depends on the size of the person and their physical fitness. During this time the liver stops making glucose.

Whilst this happens, there is a chance that the blood sugar level can become low. A person with low blood sugar may be hypoglycemic. Hypoglycemic people often feel tired or light headed. They may even pass out if the blood sugar is very low. This is why you should never drink on an empty stomach.

So for anyone about to drink alcohol, a small snack should be taken beforehand. This is particular relevant to diabetics and they should try to keep their blood sugar levels as stable as possible. A snack will cause the liver to create glucose and put it into the bloodstream before alcohol enters the body. If you take any diabetes pills then you shouldn’t drink for a few hours after or as the prescription advises.

Avoid drinking excessively. Apart from the negative affects that alcohol can have on your body, it will make it harder for you to keep a constant blood sugar level. Keeping your blood sugar level constant is important over time because it decreases the chances of diabetic complications, like poor circulation, nerve damage and cardiovascular problems occurring.

Having a glass or two of wine with dinner is perfectly ok. Drinking alcohol as part of a celebration is also fine. As you become more experienced with diabetes you will know when you have taken on too much alcohol.

More and more children and kids are being diagnosed with diabetes. The epidemic has changed from originally effecting most adults to know kids.

To understand why you first need to understand what Type 2 Diabetes is. Type 2 Diabetes occurs because your body is insulin resistant. Typically, individuals who suffer from obesity are prime candidates for Type 2 Diabetes.

Many children who develop diabetes are diagnosed with the disease because of their family genetics. They have parents who have had a history with the disease.

There are so many processed foods in the world today. There are energy drinks, sugary foods, and candy that are children are being effected by negatively. These sugary foods can cause children to become obese and increase their risk of diabetes. This rise in diabetes has turned our young ones into unhealthy obese children.

If your family has a history of diabetes or is overweight then it is a good idea to get him or her tested. This is especially true when the child is over the age of ten or has experience puberty. The younger a child is diagnosed the easier it is to manage the disease and make it a lifestyle change for them.

Environmental issues and your childs diet can be adjusted through good parenting.
