The Epidemic of Kids and Diabetes

More and more children and kids are being diagnosed with diabetes. The epidemic has changed from originally effecting most adults to know kids.

To understand why you first need to understand what Type 2 Diabetes is. Type 2 Diabetes occurs because your body is insulin resistant. Typically, individuals who suffer from obesity are prime candidates for Type 2 Diabetes.

Many children who develop diabetes are diagnosed with the disease because of their family genetics. They have parents who have had a history with the disease.

There are so many processed foods in the world today. There are energy drinks, sugary foods, and candy that are children are being effected by negatively. These sugary foods can cause children to become obese and increase their risk of diabetes. This rise in diabetes has turned our young ones into unhealthy obese children.

If your family has a history of diabetes or is overweight then it is a good idea to get him or her tested. This is especially true when the child is over the age of ten or has experience puberty. The younger a child is diagnosed the easier it is to manage the disease and make it a lifestyle change for them.

Environmental issues and your childs diet can be adjusted through good parenting. Make sure your child is eating healthy and getting enough exercise that they need to maintain a healthy weight.
